Scotland vs Switzerland Match Preview June 19th

Tonight, Scotland take on Switzerland in what is both teams second outing at the European Championships 2024. Scotland have had an embarrassing start to their campaign as they come into tonight’s game off the back of a 5-1 battering against the hosts, Germany. Switzerland will certainly be coming into this game in higher spirits as they managed a convincing 3-1 victory against Hungary in their opening fixture. Tonight will be an interesting tie as Scotland will hope to resurrect their fantastic form from the qualifying stages and bring it into tonight’s game. Switzerland do have a strong squad full of big players off the back of great seasons so a big performance is needed from Scotland tonight as Steve Clarkes men will hope to spare some of the embarrassment from their opening game.

Tonight is almost a make or break for Steve Clarke and Scotland as a loss here would be a massive hit to their dreams of qualifying for the round of 16. The pressure is certainly mounting on Clarke to deliver as many fans are starting to see through his tactics and question if he has what it takes to remain the Scotland boss. However, all is not lost. A win or draw tonight would set Scotland up for their game on Sunday against Hungary and, if they are victorious against them, could see them progress to the next round. This would certainly release some of the pressure on Steve Clarkes back as Scotland have never progressed through the group stages at the European Championships. Major tactical changes will need to be made if Scotland are to see a different result to Friday nights humiliation though and Switzerland are a strong side so the Tartan Army will need a massive performance tonight if they are to impress the fans.

Switzerlands start to the Euros campaign is a complete contrast to Scotlands as they managed a convincing and largely comfortable win over Hungary. Switzerland come into the tournament as somewhat dark horses as they have a great squad with some big players from all around Europe. They will hope to continue their form from Saturdays game and confirm their progression to the round of 16.
